Community Clear up at Oakhill Park Pymmes Brook

The Pymmes Brookers had their first proper outing in Oak Hill Park yesterday. Waders and gloves were donned to begun clearing masses of invasive, choking Himalayan balsam from the brook, as well as all sorts of debris, and planted 50 new native plants around the new wetlands dug out by our friends in the London Wildlife Trust.

If was great fun, and another clear up has been arranged for 31st August.  There's lots of work ahead to make Pymmes Brook immaculate - working not just as volunteers to get in and clean the water ourselves, but closely with the council, the Environment Agency and others to address sewage misconnections and explore how we can enhance the ecology and biodiversity in Oak Hill Park.
